The Spa at Brown’s
The Client
Sound Division has recently supplied a fully iPod-driven distributed background music system in the spa and treatment rooms at the legendary Brown’s hotel in Mayfair. One of London’s most historic hotels, the emphasis at Brown’s is on intimacy and quintessential English charm. However, this has not stopped the hotel opting for a thoroughly modern background music solution for their spa and fitness centre.
System Solution
The system is based on a number of Opus MS micro ceiling speakers distributed throughout four zones: The first zone comprises reception and the main corridor; the second is made up of treatment rooms one and two; the third encompasses treatment room three; and the fourth is the gymnasium. Sound Division has supplied three Cloud RL1 remote volume control panels and two Cloud mixers amplifiers, a four-zone Cloud 46/50 for zones 1-4, and a separate Cloud MPA-626 single zone device for the gymnasium. Acting as the music source for the entire system, Sound Division also supplied two 4-Gb 1000-track capacity Apple iPods that they loaded up with music for Brown’s.
Last Word
“It’s always nice to be involved in innovative little jobs like these,” notes Sound Division’s David Graham. “It’s good to see an historic and traditional establishment like Brown’s make use of modern technology such as the iPod at the heart of their music system, and even better that they asked us to do it for them! We look forward to developing the relationship in the future.”
