Where is Willy? Sponsored Waddle
The Event
Orchid is the UK’s leading charity working on behalf of anyone affected by or interested in male cancer – prostate, testicular and penile cancer. Established in 1996 by testicular cancer patient, Colin Osborne MBE and the oncologist who saved his life, Professor Tim Oliver, Orchid exists to save men’s lives from male cancer through a range of support services, education and awareness campaigns and a pioneering research programme.
Where is Willy? is an annual fundraising event where most participants don an inflatable penis costume (provided by the charity) and run, jog, walk or waddle the iconic 2km route around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, East London to raise awareness of Penile Cancer.
Sound Division is proud to have an ongoing association with this significant fundraising event, providing technical production services, a public address system and event lighting for the sponsored waddle for the last four years.
Production Services
A portable PA system, using four EV SX300 loudspeakers mounted on stands, provides the soundtrack for the event, playing music at high volume levels to keep runners, waddlers and walkers motivated to complete their challenge.
Presenters use two Shure Q-LXD SM87 handheld radio microphones to shout and sing encouragement on the move as participants pass by.
With the event running into the night, eight MBI 400 portable floodlights, mounted on Manfrotto stands and controlled using a simple Zero88 lighting desk, illuminate the start/finish area.
A technical engineer is also on-hand for the duration of the event to manage sound and lighting engineering requirements.
