3 Henrietta Street Opening
The Client
Overlooking the colourful street performers in Covent Garden’s bustling main square is 3 Henrietta Street. A delightfully restored five-storey, late 18th century Townhouse.
The Grade-II listed building sits prominently in an area once occupied by bakers, lace-makers, surgeons, stockbrokers and later, nobility. The street, itself, is named after the Queen consort of Charles I.
In 2021, this illustrious address once again became home to the art of food preparation and quality customer service with the launch of an eclectic mix of restaurants on separate floors.
Doughnation serves unique artisanal pizzas while Pivot Bar & Pivot Bistro, under the stewardship of celebrity chef Mark Greenaway, serves wholesome, home-cooked gourmet classics such as Cumberland sausage and bubble & squeak.
Below ground floor is the lively El Ta’koy Hawaii Restaurant and Tiki cocktail bar offering its intriguing, island menu delights created by chef, Luis Pous.
The Brief
Following the installation of a multi-zoned Martin Audio background music system for the venue (case study coming soon), Sound Division was asked to provide the technical production for the launch party, working closely with event organiser, Cathy Cyzer of Triple C management.
Guest DJ for the opening was Fat Tony, a renowned figure in the UK and international club scene for more than 3 decades. From early success at the iconic Ministry of Sound, Fat Tony has worked with likes of Boy George, Madonna, and Mary J Blige, and is official DJ to the Beckhams. Chart success in the 90s and 00s was accompanied by working with brands like Adidas, Equinox, Absolut, and Kiehl’s.
The Set-Up
For the DJ set-up we supplied the standard tech rider of a Pioneer CJD & DJM Nexus system neatly installed within a customised plain black DJ Booth with client logo.
The sound system comprised an EV 2kW two-way rig with SX18″ bass bins and ELX 12″ Mid High speakers which were set up in the main party room at the rear of Doughnation Pizza on the ground floor.
To ensure everyone could hear Fat Tony’s DJ set throughout the building, sound was fed to additional compact EV monitors placed unobtrusively in both the Pivot Bar & Bistro and El Ta’koy. Technical support was provided with a sound engineer on duty throughout the event.
Last Word
David Graham, Founder & Director of Sound Division said, “TGP International is a long-standing client of many years and we are pleased to have played our part with the launch party of 3 Henrietta St.”
