Sound Division Hire team highlights of the month
Even as the festive party season swings rapidly into view, October proved to be another busy month for The Sound Division Group!
Whilst the Technical Events department are invariably engaged in specifying for large-scale productions, the Hire team maintain a full daily schedule, constantly on the road, delivering and setting up music systems, public address and AV equipment for different clients at a variety of venues.
Amongst the month's notable clients was the Soil Association, who had organised a press briefing at the Duke of Cambridge, Islington, to announce the results of a consultation which had proposed changes to the Soil Association's standards to ensure that organic food is only air freighted to the UK if it delivers genuine benefits for farmers in developing countries.
Covering the event were BBC 2 and News 24, Channel 4, ITV News and BBC Radio in addition to the national press.
The Sound Division Hire Dept delivered and set up a 200 watt public address system consisting of 2 x EV sx80 stand-mounted loudspeakers and a Shure ULX hand held mic system, controlled by a Dynacord Powered Mixer.
A 6ft x 4ft front projection screen was also supplied.
An identical projection screen, together with a Panasonic SXGA 7000 projector and DVD player was delivered to Beach Blanket Babylon's newly opened bar and restaurant in Shoreditch — a previous client of the Sound Division Group, who had permanently installed a new JBL sound system at their premier Notting Hill venue earlier in the year.
The event was tied in with the Frieze Art Fair, a week long, annual international contemporary art exhibition being held at Regents Park.
Further occasions taking place connected with the Fair saw the Sound Division Hire department delivering and setting up an entire DJ sound system for two after show parties organised by Sadie Coles HQ, one of the Frieze Art gallery exhibitors. Equipment specified was a 2 x EV sx300 loudspeaker and Crown amplifier combination, 2 x Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK III CD players with the Allen & Heath Xone:62 Mixer and Technics SL1210 Mk V turntables.
The first of the two events, held at the Savile, private members club, featured DJs specially flown in from Europe and the second party, at Annexe 3, involved the Hire team completely rebuilding the DJ booth and linking directly to the house system.
