The Client

The by CHLOE. restaurant chain is a 100% plant-based restaurant concept with locations in New York City, Boston, LA, Rhode Island, Toronto and now London. Originally founded in New York, by CHLOE. operates five restaurants in the UK, all located in central London including Covent Garden, Oxford Circus and Tower Bridge.

Forming part of the QOOT Group of restaurants, by CHLOE. serves vegan dishes in a casual environment, using locally sourced ingredients which are all free of animal products and contain no preservatives or artificial flavours. Specialities include burgers, soups, salads, a range of brunch options, plus desserts, all 100% vegan and plant-based.

Project Brief

by CHLOE. was introduced to the UK by Simon Wright. Thanks to a longstanding relationship with the founders spanning over twenty years, Sound Division was invited to provide a proposal for the sound system for their forthcoming UK restaurants.

The brief from the client was to provide a top-notch, multizone background music system for the launch of the first restaurant in Covent Garden in 2017 and the subsequent restaurant openings since.

System Solution

The initial project in Covent Garden was a single floor restaurant for which Sound Division specified and installed six Martin Audio CDD5T loudspeakers throughout the dining area connected to a Cloud MPA120 single zone mixer amplifier. Five Martin Audio C4.8T ceiling loudspeakers connected to a Cloud MA40T single zone mixer amplifier provide background music to the washrooms.

For the second project at by CHLOE. in Tower Bridge, five Martin Audio CDD5T loudspeakers were installed in the ground floor restaurant area. A further two Martin Audio CDD5T loudspeakers provide music to the mezzanine restaurant area with two Martin Audio C4.8T ceiling speakers playing out in the washrooms. All of the loudspeakers connect to a four-zone Cloud 46-120 mixer amplifier. Two separate RL-1 remote volume control panels — one for each floor — allow localised control in each zone.

The Oxford Circus site boasts four Martin Audio Adorn A55T loudspeakers in white finish in the main restaurant area. These were complemented by five Martin Audio C4.8T ceiling loudspeakers which serve the other public areas including the washroom corridor, stairwell and washrooms. All of the loudspeakers are connected to a Cloud 46/50 four zone mixer amplifier, which allows restaurant staff to control volume levels in each of the three audio zones.
