Holy Carrot Restaurant
The Client
“An audio solution that suited both the visual style of the building and the ambience” – LXA Hospitality
Unique minimalist interior design
Holy Carrot Restaurant and Bar bring their own tantalising, vegan taste of, “creative, plant-first dining” to the Notting Hill scene.
Launched in July 2024 at the junction of Portobello Road and Colville Terrace – opposite the iconic Electric Cinema – Holy Carrot also reinterprets dining-space “fusion” design.
Restaurant founder, Irina Linovich, serves up her unique vision of minimalist surface and luxury “earthy elements”, alongside the sheer, austere elegance of clean lines and dramatic curves.
Project Brief
High-quality “invisible” sound system
LXA Hospitality – London-based concept and brand specialists – supervised the restaurant design and launch. A key brief was to supply a high-quality, crystal-clear sound which conformed to the restaurant’s minimalist aesthetic. To specify and install a virtually “invisible” loudspeaker system.
Music also needed to be distributed across three distinct dining areas / zones on two different floors, including walkways and restrooms.
System Solution
Speaker sound quality punches above size and weight
To meet the strict requirement for a system that was “unseen but heard”, Sound Division specified Martin C4.8T flush-mounted ceiling speakers.
Coupled with a very efficient set of transducers, wide sound dispersion and frequency response, the speakers deliver a sound quality that certainly punches above their size and weight, and perfect for background music applications.
Sound Division completed the installation by specifying sound management equipment sourced from emerging British brand, Optimal Audio. Comprising a Smartamp 4-channel power amplifier with DSP to drive the speakers, a Zone 8 audio controller with onboard DSP.
Remote panel controller gives back up support
An Apple iPad-Mini – loaded with a bespoke Optimal web-app GU – provides a daily, portable music menu with volume control. And a discreetly wall-mounted ZonePad 4 remote panel controller gives back-up support.
End game
“Sound Division were a pleasure to work with on the Holy Carrot project. We worked closely with them to configure an audio solution that suited both the visual style of the building and the ambience we were looking to achieve.” – LXA Hospitality
“Integrating the very practical requirements of sound distribution and installation, with a need for the minimal visual presence of loudspeakers, is always an interesting challenge. It’s also a pleasure to work with LXA Hospitality, and naturally delighted the solution gives the look and feel they wanted to achieve.” – David Graham, Sound Division.
