Situated amidst East London’s creative district and the financial centre of the City, Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch provides the perfect blend of industrial chic and Japanese simplicity.

With 164 guest rooms and suits, stylish penthouse suites and even a private rooftop terrace, Nobu hotel also boasts a unique, open-air courtyard adjacent to the world-renowned Nobu restaurant, extensive event space and a luxury spa.

Located in the lobby, Nobu Café and Nami Bar offer hand-crafted coffee, Japanese street food and best-in-class cocktails.

Project Brief

Through a recommendation from prestigious international hospitality promoter Luca Maggiora, we were called upon to install a top-end background music system for the external courtyard and terrace areas.

We also upgraded the hotel’s existing audio processing system that links to other public areas of the hotel including the Nobu restaurant, the Nami bar and the lounge and lobby areas. Further enhancements were also made to the sound systems in the private rooftop event space and spa.

Finally, the client required a DJ booth and system that would accommodate visiting DJs.

System Solution

Sound Division installed a total of six compact Martin Audio CCD6TW loudspeakers, powered by two Crown amplifiers, each providing more than 1kW of power output, in the external courtyard and the lower and upper terraces.

We routed audio to the Crown amplifiers via a BBS BLU100 digital audio processor linked to an additional BSS BLU100 processor and BSS expander. This equipment allowed us to route audio to the public spaces in the hotel – notably, the Nobu restaurant, Nami bar and lounge/lobby areas. We were also able to route additional audio signal paths to the private rooftop and spa.

We simplified the control interface for hotel management/staff by installing a number of conveniently located BSS remote volume/source selection controls and integrating an Apple iPad with a bespoke control interface.

To accommodate DJs, we installed a comprehensive Pioneer CDJ/DJM NXS system in an unobtrusive black DJ booth, adding multiple plug-in points to allow live events, private parties and presentations to connect to the sound system with ease.
